The Ruins of St. Paul's are the surviving granite facade and stairway of the Church of Mater Dei, built from 1602 to 1640, with archaeological remains of St. Paul's College behind the facade at Company of Jesus Square in Macao. The religious complex was destroyed by fire in 1835. Official Macao heritage sources list the facade as 23 metres wide and 25.5 metres high, divided into five symbolic levels with Christian, Chinese, Portuguese, Jesuit, nautical, and wider Asian motifs. The site sits within the Historic Centre of Macao World Heritage landscape. The facade is visible 24 hours and free to view. The Sacred Art Museum and Crypt normally open 09:00-18:00, with no admission after 17:30 and Tuesday afternoon closure. Filming or formal photo shooting activity requires prior authorization from the Cultural Affairs Bureau.
